Removing Duplicate Rows in Excel

Removing duplicate rows in Excel (de-duping) is sometimes a necessity, We offer an add-in to help accomplish this task at the click of a button, or you can use the method below:

  • Select all the data that you would like to test for duplicates
  • Go to Data=>Filter=>Advanced Filter (Pre 2007) or Data Tab=>advanced in the sort and filter section of the ribbon (2007 and later)
  • Select the “unique records only” check box, then OK
  • Right click highlighted area and choose copy
  • Paste into another location.

  • The pasted results will only include unique rows of data from your original data set.

    Installing Subsidium Add-Ins

    Subsidium Add-ins are easy to integrate into Excel. Follow the steps below for installation:

    Excel Version 97-2003

    1. Save the add in to a location on you computer you will remember
    2. From within Excel, go to the tools menu=>add-ins
    3. Choose “browse”, and go to the location of your add in.
    4. Select the add-in and choose “OK”
    5. The add in should now appear in the “Add ins available” box with a check by it
    6. Click “OK”
    7. The Add in is now installed and ready to use. Subsidium add-ins will appear as an item typically below the menu

    Excel Version 2007

    1. Save the add in to a location on you computer you will remember
    2. From within Excel, select the Office button (Upper left hand corner)=>Excel Options (bottom)=>Add-Ins
    3. Select “Excel Add-Ins” in the Manage box and Choose “Go”
    4. Select “Browse” and go to the add-in, in the location you saved it.
    5. Select the add-in and choose “OK”
    6. The add in should now appear in the “Add ins available” box with a check by it
    7. Click “OK”
    8. The Add in is now installed and ready to use. Subsidium add-ins will typically  appear as an item under the “Add-Ins” menu header above the ribbon.
